Focus on Kōwhai Room

This month has seen Kōwhai Room focus on their outdoor learning environment, teaching our Pepe to care for and nurture Papatūānuku, and also helping provide our kai that our cook Teresa can use in her cooking.

Te rā has been out shining bright a lot this month in Hawke’s Bay and so too are our Pepe in Kōwhai Room. We have been learning about kaitiakitanga (caring for our whenua-land), experiencing natural elements of the earth such as sand and water whilst learning scientific concepts such as weights vs solids.

We have been working on our outdoor environment to reflect Papatūānuku and allowing the children to have a part in setting up their own environment. So far soo good!

The Kōwhai Tamariki have also been demonstrating Te Wiki o Te Reo Language Week. Our ponga plants are growing beautifully and we created a kai Moana learning experience this morning and we even got to taste homemade rewana bread with chicken vegetable soup - Thanks to our kaimahi Teresa!

September has been a fun-filled month of learning and having fun in Kōwhai Room!
