Our Rooms
Lollipops New Plymouth has two separate rooms to cater for different ages and stages, however children often move between the two depending on their needs. This works especially well for siblings.
Teina Room
Our Teina Room caters primarily for our youngest children aged from birth to 2 years. With a homely and respectful vibe, children are able to self-access resources and routines are relaxed and flexible.
Daily Flow
6:45 am: Centre opens; children, parents and caregivers are greeted as they arrive
9:30 am: Morning tea
11:00 am: Lunch
2:30 pm: Afternoon tea
5:30 pm: Centre closes
*These times may vary depending on the needs of the children. If children are hungry outside of these times, we get them something to eat. Nappy changing is every 2-3 hours from when a child arrives through to when they get picked up at the end of the day.
Tuakana Room
This space is mainly for our 2 to 6 year olds, however children are free to move between rooms based on their needs. Our Tuakana Room is a busy hub of learning with children engaging with all areas of the curriculum. Children self-access resources and are supported to take responsibility for their own learning with teacher support and guidance.
Daily Flow
We don’t have a structured routine in our Tuakana Room. Activities are set up based on the children’s planning and current interests, and all areas are set up before the children arrive.
We put children down to sleep when they show signs of being tired, which tends to be after lunch, and nappy changing and toileting takes place every 2-3 hours from the time the child arrives at the centre through to when they go home at the end of the day.
