Gold Healthy Heart Award
Here at Lollipops Britomart, the journey to achieving the Healthy Heart Gold Award has been an inspiring and collaborative effort, reflecting our deep commitment to the health and well-being of every child in our care. In partnership with the Heart Foundation, we designed nutritious and delicious menus that cater to the unique needs of children at different ages and developmental stages. But our focus didn’t stop at healthy eating—our passionate teaching team also implemented an engaging sports and physical activity program, ensuring our children are active, energetic, and building healthy habits for life. This prestigious award is a testament to our centre’s dedication to creating a nurturing and vibrant environment where children can flourish, both physically and emotionally.
But that’s not all!
Our commitment to nurturing well-rounded, healthy, and happy children extends far beyond nutrition and exercise. We offer a variety of enriching weekly activities within our centre that foster creativity, exploration, and teamwork.
Every Wednesday in the Tui Preschool Room, our Bread Making sessions allow children to experience the joy of crafting their own bread for afternoon tea, sparking a love for cooking and instilling the pride of creating something from scratch. Meanwhile, in the Fantail Baby Room, Fun Sensory Wednesdays provide our youngest learners with opportunities to explore the world around them through stimulating, hands-on sensory activities.
Thursdays are a celebration of movement, teamwork, and energy, as our dedicated teachers lead a variety of Outdoor Sports Games designed to keep our tamariki active and engaged. From the excitement of racing and the strategy of cornhole to the balance and coordination required in hopscotch and obstacle courses, these activities promote physical fitness while fostering important social skills like cooperation and teamwork. Our outdoor games create an environment where children can challenge themselves, support one another, and develop a love for being active.
To round off the week, Special Mat Times every Friday bring a sense of wonder and connection. During these sessions, kaiako and tamariki explore and discuss the people, places, and things around them. They talk about the food they grow and eat, the things they create, and the events happening in the world. These enriching conversations, combined with activities such as dance, puppet shows, and Storytime and more, ensure that our tamariki experience joy, learning, and a deep connection to the world around them in a vibrant environment.
